  1. We had one of these show up in our neighborhood a few years ago. She was the only one. Laid about 24 eggs in our ferns near the driveway & road. She called for weeks (guessing for a mate to fertilize those eggs). She would fly onto our roof, screaming. Echoed throughout the entire neighborhood. You wouldn’t believe the gut-wrenching howl & that it could come out of this bird. We got new neighbors from “not America”. About 2 weeks after they moved in, the Helmeted Guinea disappeared. Haven’t seen her since. Hmmmm…the sound of silence.
